Callisto Media
A small but mighty tech-media startup, Callisto Media is a publishing company that specializes in creating informative, non-fiction books, flashcards, and digital content across a variety of genres including cooking, self-help, children’s education, parenting, and so much more. Callisto has taken the publishing world by storm with its data-driven technology that identifies a world of unmet needs, creates practical and inspiring content to fulfill those needs, and thus helps readers transform their lives.
As a mid-level digital designer on the marketing team, I delivered engaging and visually appealing e-commerce content to support the company’s publications. This included designing and publishing content on Amazon listings (A+ content, thumbnails, video ads, storefront, etc.) and social media graphics for authors as well as the Callisto brand. My time at Callisto was such a blast and I’m grateful I got to work with and learn from such a talented team of designers, copywriters, and editors!

AMAZON PRODUCT DETAIL PAGES
Amazon product detail pages (PDPs) are the pages customers see as they search for items on Amazon. PDPs contain valuable information that a customer seeks before making a purchase. My core deliverables included developing design-forward A+ content and thumbnails for those pages to increase engagement.
Design Problems:
Product descriptions on Amazon can be seen as an uninviting and impersonal purchasing experience. Amazon A+ content, a unique tool that allows brand owners to create beautifully designed product descriptions, was being underutilized and did not highlight the values of each product.
Some problems the original descriptions had were:

With feature-heavy products requiring more details and explanations, it was important for our team to design in a way that helps consumers digest information more easily.
I conducted a design overhaul of A+ content by improving the following:
Focused on flow and created an easy-to-read format, keeping customers from scrolling too quickly through information that would convince them to buy our products
Enhanced the visual impact of a product description by designing compelling graphics tailored to each product
Created a personalized experience through page spreads and images so that customers can picture what the product will look like in real life
Collaborated with copywriters to brainstorm concept and messaging with scannable text highlighting the features and benefits
AFTER:
AMAZON THUMBNAILS
Product images are the first module to appear on-screen while using the Amazon mobile app. Since customers rely heavily on these product images to make their buying decisions, I helped redesign these thumbnails by adding eye-catching graphics and text to keep customers interested in and informed about our products.
SOCIAL MEDIA ASSETS
I provided design support across Callisto’s various digital channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, etc.) and worked cross-functionally with social media managers to help bring products to life through engaging and dynamic social media graphics. I also designed social assets to support various promo and campaign initiatives throughout the year.
