CONCEPT + DESIGN
Typography Process Book
Background: The Typography Fundamentals course is one of the seven courses in the Professional Program of Graphic Design at UC Berkeley Extension. This book is a collection of all the projects that were created in that course, demonstrating the understanding of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
Design Process: I knew I wanted my process book to be clean, chic, and easy to follow so that the projects I was showcasing could shine. I put myself in the shoes of the reader to think about how they would navigate through a text, what information they would pick out of each page first, and how that would shape their understanding of everything. Picking and choosing elements to highlight is very meaningful and can totally dictate the way that someone reads a piece.
Design Solution: To keep it editorial and chic without distracting from the variety of projects, I used B&W as the base with a bright yellow and blue as the signature accent. I chose a classic sans serif throughout the book and relied on composition as the main element for increasing the amount of playfulness in the design.
